How it Works
Mapping Our Heritage is made up of stories, photos, videos, and sound from visitors like you. We invite you to participate in a number of ways.
First, you can browse the stories collected by MOCA and other users. On our home page, you will see a scrolling list "most recent" stories, as well as a list of the "most viewed" stories. Under the Heritage Map tab [link], you will see the stories organized spatially. Each story on MOH is tied to a particular pace in and around Chinatown. The colored numbers indicate how many stories are collected in one place: click on one to explore that area.
We invite you to share your own stories about Chinatown. Visit the "share your story" site, to create an account. Tell us your name, your story, and where and when the story took place. If you have any photo, video, or audio to accompany the story, you can upload that as well. The more content you provide, the more engaging your story will be to other visitors. Once the MOCA administrator approves your story, you and other visitors will be able to see it on the Heritage Map!
Finally, we help us get the word out. If you like a certain story or site, please share it with friends and on your social media sites. The more interest this site generates, the richer it becomes for all users.
